{"id":4501,"date":"2021-09-27T10:24:11","date_gmt":"2021-09-27T09:24:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sifinetworks.com\/municipality\/arlington-fibercity-tx-breaks-ground-4\/"},"modified":"2021-09-27T11:02:45","modified_gmt":"2021-09-27T10:02:45","slug":"arlington-fibercity-tx-breaks-ground-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sifi-preview.dev-account.co.uk\/municipality\/arlington-fibercity-tx-breaks-ground-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Arlington FiberCity\u00ae TX Breaks Ground"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\">The City of Arlington TX has seen the first step in the construction process of its citywide FiberCity\u00ae project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\">SiFi Networks arrived in the city last week with its contractors Latlong Infrastructure (LLI) to conduct a construction trial demonstrating its microtrenching technology and its FiberCity\u00ae deployment process to the City.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\">The trial involves a small area of the city seeing\u00a0\u00a0microtrenching along both gutter lines in the street and the duct laid in the microtrench, fiber is then installed into the duct and the trench is reinstated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\">The trial was captured on film for the City\u2019s \u201cOn the Clock\u201d series and can be viewed\u00a0<b><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/d7VtG0zmzJo\">here<\/a> .<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\">Once the trial is complete, SiFi Networks will look towards the next stage of enabling the project to commence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\"><em>\u201cWe were delighted to showcase our processes at this trial here in Arlington\u201d\u00a0<\/em><em>commented Shawn Parker\u00a0<\/em><i><span lang=\"EN-US\">VP, Business Development &amp; Government<\/span><\/i><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0Affairs\u00a0<\/span><em>. \u201cThis is the first step to delivering a next generation fiber network that will benefit Arlington\u2019s residents and businesses for generations to come\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\">On May 18, the Arlington City Council unanimously approved an agreement that will allow SiFi Networks access to public right-of-way to build its fiber optic network across the 99-square-mile community. More than 10 million linear feet of fiber will be laid through every street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\">The FiberCity\u00ae network is expected to be built out over a five-year period to provide a high-speed fiber internet connectivity point to approximately 156,000 residential properties and 16,000 businesses in Arlington.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\">Not only will the network provide superfast fiber connectivity. The citywide network will help to close the digital divide in the city and the open access network will allow for multiple service providers to use the network to offer more choice to consumers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\">The network will also be the backbone for the city to thrive, boosting economic development by retaining and attracting new businesses as well as giving the City the ability to implement Smart City applications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\">Residents and businesses of Arlington can register their interest at\u00a0<b><a href=\"http:\/\/arlingtonfibercity.com\">arlingtonfibercity.com<\/a>\u00a0<\/b>for updates on the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Arlington TX has seen the first step in the construction process of its citywide FiberCity\u00ae project.
